Christmas 2021 – Walpole in a League of Their Own
You may have seen Freddie Flintoff driving an artic in the Christmas special of Sky One “A League of Their Own” What you didn’t know is that the tractor unit and curtain sider were decorated Walpole vehicles, and it wasn’t Freddie driving down the M3 it was Jason!
July 2021 – Anniversary Vehicle
In 1971 Sid’s father John was made redundant from his job at Walpole & Wright in 1971, so he along with his wife Edna set up in partnership as E & SJ Walpole. To celebrate 50 years in the haulage business we had a special golden anniversary vehicle built by DAF, who supply all of our tractor units.
May 2014 – New vehicles
We have added two brand new DAF XF105 with the new Euro 6 emission level engines.
2014 DAF
September 2012 – More Sugar Beet for the upcoming campaign
Walpoles have secured the contract to be a British Sugar contracted haulier for the 2012-13 campaign. This will allow us to haul over 80,000 tonnes of British Sugar managed beet in addition to the over 100,000 of sugar beet already hauled by E & S J Walpole on behalf of farmers all around Norfolk.
In order to ensure that we can still offer a fantastic service to our customers, Walpoles have modified some of the existing fleet and invested in new trailers, and loading equipment for the campaign.
11/7/10 – Walpoles on Pole Position
As many of you would have seen the British Grand Prix had a few minor alterations this year before a major upgrade due to take place next year. Walpoles were at the front of the grid in assisting with the alterations, delivering all of the new Q Lawns turf, using our forklifts around the track.
Due to his vehicle being limited to 55mph Alan was unable to pip Seb Vettel to pole position, however, the British Racing Drivers Club were kind enough to let him sit on the front of the grid for a few photographs, taken on his mobile phone!
Rather than leave our association with the GP there, our transport manager managed to find his way into the pits again on Sunday, indeed you may have seen him lurking around behind Jake Humphrey in the post-race interviews. He missed his primary target Michael Schumacher, who apparently runs around the pit lane and is difficult to pin down, however, he was happy to meet his secondary target.
